FAQs

What parts make up a complete clutch assembly?
A typical manual transmission clutch assembly consists of the clutch disc (or friction plate), the pressure plate (cover assembly), the release bearing (also called a throwout bearing), and on many vehicles a pilot bearing or spigot bush in the crankshaft or flywheel. The flywheel itself, while technically an engine component, is commonly resurfaced or replaced at the same time. Hydraulic clutches also include a master cylinder, slave cylinder (or concentric slave on some models) and a clutch hose. Brands like Exedy and Sachs supply complete kits that bundle the disc, pressure plate and release bearing together in Australia.
