After eight years, the FZJ80, HZJ80 and HDJ80 all finished production in December, closing out the platform that gave the Land Cruiser wagon full coil-spring suspension and turned it into a genuine long-range tourer. Rebuild the Brakes on a Wagon That Still Works Hard
Late 80 series wagons are still doing long trips fully loaded, and the brake system carries all of it. Nearly 30 years in, rotors are close to minimum thickness, callipers stick on one side, and the rubber hoses have swollen enough to hold pressure on the pads after you lift off.
